Our present is one of excess. Of high-speed consumption, fickle trends, and fast fashion. More is better and the faster we can make more, the better it all is. It has turned possessions that were once seen as beloved, lifetime companions into disposable knick-knacks, summer flings to be cast aside in favour of the new best thing. The small, Ferrara-based leather goods company Felisi has resisted the shift to large-scale high-speed manufacturing, instead honing its craft by employing a small number of high-skilled artisans, making bags one-by-one using old-fashioned methods and machinery since 1973. Felisi has maintained its reputation for over 40 years by adhering to its core values of tradition and craftsmanship. In Felisi’s view, our future is timeless.
